Teachers & Sports Coordinators - Information
- This offer is designed to encourage young people to play Badminton.
- Horsham Arun Badminton Club who have created this offer, are one of the Sussex Schools Partnership (SSP) selected partners in the development of badminton to schools in the area. The club is affiliated to BADMINTON England, the national governing body, and have achieved Silver Club Mark.
- The club operates a Child Protection Policy, Equity Policy and all coaches and leaders have been CRB checked, and approval numbers lodged with the SSP.
- The sessions are designed to be huge amounts of fun, and give the children the ability to develop at their own pace. The sessions are part of the Badminton Academy (information enclosed), which is a centre of excellence within the county for the development of junior badminton from grass roots.
- For parents, the offer also includes information about the start up of a new badminton club for adults, aimed specifically at beginners and improvers. The adult club session will also be run by a qualified Badminton Coach, and coaching will be provided to club members.
Kids - Badminton Racquet Offer
- The idea of the offer is to encourage kids from the age of 7 to participate in the game of badminton and to recruit new members to the badminton sessions being run on Saturday and Sunday mornings (at Billingshurst and Horsham) throughout the badminton season.
- This offer entitles the bearer of a voucher to a FREE Badminton Racquet on the basis that the bearer signs up to and joins one of the planned Junior Blocks.
- A Block comprises of ten weekly sessions at either the Weald School in Billingshurst on a Saturday morning, or Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre in Horsham on a Sunday morning. Each of the sessions is run by a BADMINTON England qualified badminton coach. The cost of each Block is £30.
- Should a child wish to try the sport at one of the sessions, a racquet will be loaned for an initial session. There will be no charge for an introductory session.
Terms & conditions
- This offer is being made by Horsham Arun Badminton Club, in association with Horsham District Council Leisure Services, Fukuda Sports and Harwoods Garages.
- This offer is open to all UK residents but is specifically targeted at school children in the Central Sussex Schools Sports Partnership catchment area.
- The voucher is valid from 01/04/07 until 28/02/09 inclusive.
- The voucher is valid for any Block that runs throughout the year.
- Only one voucher is valid per child.
- The voucher can only be used at the participating venues stated above.
- The duration of each session within the Block will be approximately 60 minutes. To qualify, the voucher holder must notify Horsham Arun Badminton Club (details below), stating that they hold a voucher and their preferred day and venue.
- Every effort will be made to accommodate the preferred day and venue, subject to space and availability. Participants may have to be flexible in this area.
- The voucher may not be used in conjunction with any other offer, promotion or voucher and cannot be applied to bookings previously made.
- There are minor regulations concerning appropriate clothing and footwear. Preferably indoor trainers, and loose fitting sports clothing should be worn.
- Initial equipment will be loaned so that a child can try the sport at the first session without making a commitment to a whole Block.
- In certain instances it may be necessary to impose height, weight and/or age restrictions or require a certain level of fitness or ability.
- The voucher and offer are not transferable and cannot be sold, resold or redeemed for cash.
- Whilst every effort will be made to ensure that the website information is correct at all times, neither Horsham Arun Badminton Club nor its partners will be held liable for any misprint or subsequent change of information.
- Horsham Arun Badminton Club reserves the right to withdraw this offer at anytime, should court space or equipment not be available. Every effort will be made to accommodate interested players.
Adult Beginners and Improvers Club
- The idea is to encourage adults into the game of badminton. These may be individuals starting from the beginning, or those who have played in the past and wish to join a club and brush up on their skills.
- There will be opportunities to play at Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre, Wickhurst Lane, Broadbridge Heath (on Friday evenings).
- The club will operate on both a membership and a drop in pay as you play basis. All players will be affiliated to BADMINTON England, and the club will be run in accordance with their club mark guidelines (for more information go to www.badmintonengland.co.uk).

Further Information - the Badminton Academy
- The Academy provides a complimentary development platform for county junior squad players as well as those wishing to break into the county set up. The Academy is working alongside Sussex Junior Badminton to support the development of players in all aspects of technical and physical play.
- Our ambition is to help you become the player that you want to be and our aims are quite simple:
- To provide quality coaching for all skill levels
- To create a pathway to excellence
- To work closely with existing coaching and county practices
- To promote badminton to all young people
- To work with players on an individual basis to properly nurture their badminton careers
- As an Academy player you will get access to a well thought out development plan that has been created with the aid of International badminton players and coaches. Olympic Silver Medallist, Nathan Robertson, has joined the Academy as an advisor and sponsor, and the Academy has links with World Champion and Olympic Champion Rexy Mainaky in Indonesia. Some of the things that you will be able to look forward to:
- An individual development plan to help you to determine exactly what you want to achieve
- The chance to complete against UK and eventually International Academies
- Coach/player feedback sessions to help make the most of your talents and skills
- Promotion in local media about your achievements and results
- Access to reduced rates on Fukuda equipment and clothing, and on Academy team kit
- An Academy T-shirt, and reduced price training T-shirts
- A coaching education system to allow players with ability to attain coaching awards, and an environment in which to practice coaching
- Players within the Academy are graded to ensure that they get the most from their play, and improve quickly and in a structured way. The initial Gold squad will also be graded to take account of the wide range of players; however, everyone is given access to high standards of play.
- The Gold Session is split into structured coaching, which will be tailored to your own development plan, and conditioned games sessions which will be coached and monitored.
- The Academy is delighted to have secured the professional coaching services of Tanya Woodward and Jamie Sims. Tanya has a wealth of experience both as an International player and as a National junior age group coach. Jamie is responsible for the development of coaching within Sussex, and has coached County junior teams and County senior team members.
